In 1936, John Jardine formed Jardine Petroleum in Clarkston, Utah to act as a wholesale
oil and gas jobber and retail service station operator for the Utah Oil Refining Company
(now known as Amoco, Inc.). In 1961, John Jardine retired and was succeeded by his son,
Sterling J. Jardine. Sterling has operated Jardine Petroleum since that time. Under his
direction the company has continued to increase its customer base and expand its market
share. This expansion has come as a result of excellent customer service and a series of
strategic acquisitions and mergers. Jardine Petroleum Co. was incorporated in 1976.
By the early 1980's the Jardine Petroleum Co. business plan called for expansion into the
Salt Lake City market. At that time the company was approaching $20 million in annual
sales. Today, Jardine Petroleum Co. has become one of the largest petroleum distributors
in Utah and the surrounding states. Annual sales have now surpassed the $90 million
mark.
Jardine Petroleum Co. has established strong supply relationships with suppliers
including Chevron, Conoco, Phillips, Shell, Texaco and Valvoline. The company has

facilities, Jardine Petroleum Co. services an area which includes all of Utah, Idaho,
Nevada and Wyoming.
